Changes in the Server

We are gathered here today for the funeral of Bukkit. Bukkit led a good early life, one of great entertainment to many. But as Bukkit aged and time made its mark, Bukkit began to decay. In its last month of life, Bukkit passed on its promise and potential to Mojang, leaving us with nothing. And now today the server sees that Bukkit has kicked the bucket. But not all is lost. As we look out into the horizon, we see the dawn of Industry, the siren calls of the machine. And walking to us hoping to fill the gap, is the Technic Pack.

For those of you who don't know, I have been debating for a while whether or not to keep the Bukkit server API around. With the Bukkit devs merging with Mojang to work on the official Minecraft server API, I thought it was only a matter of time before Bukkit would be lost forever. The Spout devs also saw this end coming, and began to develop their own API. Unfortunately they have yet to release it. So I made the decision to get rid of Bukkit for good and replace it with the Technic Pack. Before making this decision I had this poll:

The results show that people prefer the Technic Pack over Bukkit. Not only that people want the old worlds ported over to the Technic world. Because of the nature of the Technic Pack, specifically Industrialcraft, the Technic main world has far surpassed the Bukkit main world. Because of this, I am only porting over Equestria and the Moon.

This change in the server makes the Technic Pack a requirement for accessing the server however, so this makes us a lot less inviting for newcomers. And with my bet with Bfong that I can someone of the opposite gender on the server, this may be an issue.
